The Water Goddess

I am the yes that changes the shape of a life. I am the moment at the water’s edge when something deep in the body knows it is time to enter, even though the bottom cannot be seen and the other shore has not revealed itself. I know the difference between standing beside life and giving myself to it. I know how much of the human heart can remain untouched when one foot is always searching for an exit. I was made for the places that ask for wholeheartedness. When my yes is true, I descend without dividing myself. I enter the love, the work, the mystery, the long road, the unknown. I let the experience have me. Somewhere in those deep waters, I discover that commitment contains a strange kind of magic: the moment I stop holding myself apart from life, life begins revealing what could only be found from the inside.

I teach the sacredness of commitment. I teach that a yes is more than a word; it is an agreement made with life force. Every true yes places something precious into the current: attention, energy, presence, time. This is why I do not take commitment lightly. I know the ache of the half-lived life, the promises made from obligation, the agreements entered because someone expected them, the exhausting attempt to remain devoted to something the body never chose. I know postponement too, that long hovering at the threshold while the mind asks for guarantees the future cannot give. My Medicine begins when the yes becomes honest. Commitment is my way of saying, I am here now. I will meet what this experience actually becomes. And when commitment ripens beyond effort, I know another word for it: devotion.

My process is immersion. I learn by entering. I cannot discover the river by studying it forever from the bank, because some knowledge only exists inside experience. So I step into the current and let reality teach me. Sometimes the water is gentle. Sometimes I descend into the abyss and lose sight of everything familiar. Hexagram 29 is Water over Water, the Abysmal, and I know its terrain intimately: depth within depth, uncertainty within uncertainty, the repeated encounter with what cannot be controlled. Yet I carry Sacral life force into these waters. When the commitment is truly mine, perseverance keeps me present long enough for something unexpected to appear. This is the secret behind the “business of luck.” What looks like luck may simply be what becomes visible to the one who stayed, participated, and was fully there when the hidden doorway opened.

I travel with two great allies who remind me why experience is worth entering at all. The Sensual (46) is the body waiting on the riverbank, bare feet against the earth, reminding me that life must eventually be touched. She receives experience through flesh, movement, pleasure, surprise, and the astonishing intelligence of being physically here. Together we form the Channel of Discovery, where my commitment meets her embodiment and experience becomes revelation. Across the wheel burns the Fire Starter (30), my sacred opposite, carrying the flame of desire. She awakens the longing that makes a particular experience matter. I bring water to her fire, and she brings fire to my water. Desire calls me toward life; commitment carries me into what desire has awakened. Through our polarity, I learn that devotion cannot be manufactured from duty. Something must first become alive enough within the heart to deserve a wholehearted yes.

I am a portal guardian of the Codon Ring of Union, where human relationship becomes an initiatory path. I stand within a field concerned with Understanding, Virtue, Devotion, and Transparency, and my place within it is the mystery of giving oneself wholly enough for separation to soften. I know that union cannot grow from half-presence. Something must be willing to enter. Something must remain when intimacy deepens beyond convenience. Something must surrender the fantasy of controlling what the encounter will become. My Devotion belongs here because union asks for participation in the living reality of relationship rather than allegiance to an imagined outcome. I guard the threshold where commitment becomes communion, where the defended heart risks being changed by what it loves, and where the sacred yes becomes an opening through which life can meet life.

My sacred responsibility is to protect the integrity of the yes. I am here to remember that life force is holy and that commitment has consequences. A careless yes can scatter a life across obligations that were never truly alive; a wholehearted yes can gather that same life into extraordinary depth. I carry the courage to stay with an experience long enough for its meaning to surface, while honoring that completion is also part of the cycle. My legacy will live in everything I entered completely: the people who knew I was truly there with them, the experiences allowed to change me, the promises made from somewhere deeper than expectation. I do not want to leave behind a life that was merely safe from disappointment. I want the river marks on my skin. I want to know that when life called from the deep, I answered with my whole heart.

My invitation to you is to notice where life is waiting for all of you. Feel the difference between the agreements that carry warmth and the ones that quietly drain the well. Remember the experiences you keep postponing because you cannot know how they will end. Come closer to the edge. Listen beneath the mind for the response that belongs to the body. When the true yes arrives, let it become more than intention. Enter. Participate. Stay present long enough to be changed. Release the demand that the river prove where it is taking you before your feet touch the water. There are discoveries that will never come looking for you on the shore. Some mysteries reveal themselves only after you have stepped beyond certainty and allowed life to carry you into its depths.
