ENGAGE YOUR BODY
emBODYment
created by Timothy Brainard, The Body Keys
There is a physical distinction between the repressive, reactive and natural expression of the Manager.
We can look to the body to help us emBODY the archetype.

REACTIVE: Controlling
Description: You could be described as a control freak. Your anger is so tightly coiled that they cannot allow any part of your environment to escape their control. You can’t handle change unless you have instigated it. If others transgress the confines of your deeply controlled life, all your pent up tension and anger is likely to be detonated. You may strive to maintain control over others through hierarchical dominance or by taking the moral high ground. Probably, you can only be humbled by a deep physical or emotional crisis, and because of your inability to let go, you often meet crises in life.
(From the Gene Keys)
EXPLORING DOMINANCE/CONTROL IN YOUR BODY:
Consider the SHAPE that the body takes when it is being controlling. How does it feel to be controlling? When you feel controlling what does it look like in your body?
Fists clenched, shoulders thrown back, chest puffed, forceful feeling, etc
Your Turn: Explore how the reactive nature of controlling feels and is expressed by your body.
REPRESSIVE: Submissive
Description: You let others remain in control without asserting your own authority. You tend to defer control to life itself therefore not assuming responsibility for the direction in which it takes you. You may unconsciously blame life for whatever happens to you, closing down your willpower. This Shadow is afraid of being in control since it means you alone are accountable for your actions and potential success or failure.
(From the Gene Keys)
EXPLORING SUBMISSION IN YOUR BODY:
Consider the SHAPE that the body takes when it is submissive. How does it feel to be submissive? When you feel submissive what does it look like in your body?
Shoulders slumped, back arched, make yourself small, limpness, etc
Your Turn: Explore how the repressive nature of submission feels and is expressed by your body.
NATURAL EXPRESSION: ?
What exists outside of limp and repressed & tense and reactive?
What does the natural or relaxed expression look and feel like in the body?
What does it feel like to be balanced?
What shape does it take?
What is its posture?
What does it feel like to be alert and relaxed at the same time?
Your Turn: Explore how the Natural Manager nature get expressed by your body? BE THE NATURAL MANAGER.
