OVERCOMING EMOTIONAL STRUGGLE

YOUR EMOTIONS HAVE A PURPOSE

THE ACTIVITY

HONOR YOUR EMOTIONS

Our emotions have a PURPOSE. They are like our GPS systems communicating to us where we are going and how we are feeling. Are we heading for a train wreck or towards an exciting adventure? They are able to tell you if you're in flow, resistance or stagnation.

You can feel them in your body. When we aren't REPRESSING, DENYING, SHAMING, BLAMING, FEELING GUILTY ABOUT OR SEPARATING FROM our emotions we have the wonderful gift of healing that can transpire.

THE PURPOSE

The purpose of this exercise is to connect with some emotions that are manifesting in response to the struggle and stress in your life. When you do not process and embrace these emotions then they sit in your body -- think of them as chains. Every time you reject or repress an emotion it adds another link to the chain. Eventually you carry around a long heavy chain of emotions. When you have another experience that triggers that emotion it feels heavier than it actually is because of the amount of unprocessed experiences you're holding on to.

THE PROCESS

Sit in silence with yourself for at least 10 minutes with the intention to connect with an emotion that is ready to be seen

Feel into your body to where this emotion is living

Ask the emotion to amplify so you can identify it

Is this emotions YOURS that you are holding on to

(you will know it is NOT yours if you cannot identify where it came from and what it is linked to -- in this case, thank it and let it go)

If yes, then ...

Ask to be shown when this emotion first showed up

Ask the emotion what it has to show you or tell you / What is its PURPOSE?

Be a witness to that emotion without trying to fix it or do anything with it

Repeat the Hoponopono prayer holding that feeling

I love you, I'm sorry, please forgive me, thank you

When the feeling dissipates you can move to the next feeling wanting to be seen and heard or finish the

Journal your experience out.
