I too found his speech to be an act, not the energy of a revolutionary. While I do believe he has had his own personal awakening, I do not see this speech as sincere, but acting and self glorifying at a moment of opportunity.
Personally I don’t accept that Joaquin Phoenix is a champion for the cause when he aligns himself to a business that is about exploitation , he may stand up and give an emotive speech about veganism which was designed to give him the media exposure he desires. And yet he returns to his seat and sits with rich liberal lefties who are draped in leather, wearing clothes that were created in sweatshops and drive past homes less people on the way to and from the oscars. He and his fellow celebs show business people are not revolutionary in my mind.… Read more »
