WHO IS THIS ARCHETYPE?
The Discoverer is driven by ideas and curiosity. He forms opinions by projecting the mind into the future, in order to be of service to the world. What matters to the Discoverer is the quality of life and any way of enhancing it. He has the mental ability of seeing the bigger picture.
The Discoverer is not a visionary in the same way as the Idealist (11). The Discoverer does not see archetypes. Rather he sees patterns rooted in numbers, which can then be translated into symbols.
The Discoverer sees all the working parts of any structure, detects potential flaws and finds solutions based on detailed knowledge. The energy of logic is mastery over time through correction of patterns. The way the Discoverer understands something is often best explained through images and not words. It is the Scientist (62) that effortlessly translates these images into language.
Through the close connection with the Scientist (62) the Discoverer is an excellent diplomat and debater. He is not afraid of being opinionated but more than anything it entertains a broad spectrum of views about all aspects of life. He loves when opinions are tested or criticized and he encourages a fair debate that hears all sides of any story.
The Discoverer remains open without attachment to any fixed opinion. There is a natural inclination within him to be fair, balanced, and impartial. This archetype doesn’t take itself too seriously. Humor is never far away for the Discover.
